This is in memory of Karen Carpenter  

The modern style mixed media painting of Karen singing reminds us she is with the angels now.  She is one of my favorite artists. I sing many of her songs and marvel at the amount of beautiful music she produced in her short life. Her music will forever be in our hearts.

"Bella " was painted with a mixed medium of acrylics, chalk paint and water colors.  This is inspired from a photo of my grand-niece.  You will see many portraits as I plan to do portraits of my grand-nieces and nephews and also some children of friends within the next few month.  I forgot to mention I have a huge family and so does my husband.
I also want to add this is the first time I have introduced chalk paint in my paintings.  I love the softness it brings.  It is like velvet.

"Cousins at the Keyboard"

This was inspired by a photo of a couple of my grand nieces.  It was painted in acrylics. The photo captured a sweet moment of the two girls spending time together and having fun with music.

This was painted in acrylics.  It was inspired from a photo of my nephew and his daughter. Sometimes I am taken by a photo and see it as a painting.  This was one of them.  Sometimes nothing has to be said when the image is so expressive.

This was painted in acrylics in a modern style.  My daughter-in-law Casey has a birthday coming up. My daughter Joy suggested I do a painting of one of Casey's favorite photos of her Mom and sister when they were growing up in Paris.  I love doing paintings that mean something special to people.

Pink Butterfly in Tropical Foliage

If you are an artist have you ever painted over another painting you did you did not like?  That is what happened to me in this case.   I used plaster and acrylics for the foliage and acrylic painted foil paper for the butterfly.

Tropical Sun Setting

Painted in metallic acrylic paints over canvas and partly foil paper. I am introducing foil paper as a part of my mixed media materials so I have been practicing with it.  I am realizing there are all kinds of cool things you can do with foil paper.  It is so much fun.

The abstract "Let There Be Peace" was done in acrylics.  In a time of many disturbing events I wanted to make a statement.

"Blues Bro Bobio"

This is an abstract portrait of my husband Bob.  I call him Bobio sometimes.  He is more handome than Dan Aykroyd  but when he dresses up for Halloween as one of the "Blues Brothers" there is a strong resemblance to Dan. Our kids usually have a costume party and I think they would be disappointed if Bob were dressed as anyone else.  The painting was done in acrylics.
