"Behind Stormy Clouds"  was painted in acrylics and plaster was used in the darker clouds.  As I was painting I started thinking of how beautiful God's creation is behind those stormy clouds. I think I can relate that if applied to life we may see stormy clouds but once they clear there is beauty beyond words. That is why we need to give the stormy clouds time, have faith and hope.

"Mary Ellen" was painted in acrylics inspired by a photo of my mother.  The painting is not exactly like the photo but many of the ideas were taken from the photo.

The painting "After the Hunt" was inspired by an old family photo of my Great, Great Uncle Gene in the early 1900's.  I was a little taken back by the photo but at the same time drawn in.  It was interesting how he placed the animals over the hood of the car. Because of the grim nature of the photo I decided to do the painting in modern style.  It was done in acrylics and a little bit of fabric paint.

The two pictures of the paintings below are for the Wildlife and Domestic Show.  One of the cutest  animals of the zoo is the Koala and one of the ugliest is the Rhino.  (in my opinion)  "Koala" was done in acrylics and "San Diego Rhino" was done in acrylics and plaster.

Tropical Bird (Toucan)

I painted this for my master bath at home.  Themed with birds I thought I would paint some birds.  I am surprisingly excited about it.  Never being a "bird" person I am realizing maybe I should be. Some of them are so beautiful. This one was done in acrylics and vitrail Paint.

Even in Texas we usually don't get through a year without a snow and ice storm.  I was thinking this just might be one that we would get away with because it has been a mild winter. But, no, for the past week and a half we have had snow or ice or both off and on.  This has lead to some down time at home which I have really enjoyed.  While busy taking Bob to see doctors and therapists it has been difficult to get in the studio. Due to some cancellations and rescheduling I have been able to spend some time painting these past few days.  I started updating some family portraits. I have several more to do but below are photos of some I started.  The one of Jake (my grand-son) is really funny because he loves wings and that is exactly what his plate looks like a few minutes after he gets them.

Painted in acrylics, vitrail paint, sculpted in plaster and accented in Hot Glue.  I have been experimenting in vitrail paint.  I love it for mixed media accents.  It has a glassy appearance.

"Hanging With Friends"

This painting was inspired by a photo my Grand-daughter Peyton had of her with friends in their jeans and look alike shoes.  To off-set the painting I added a person with red boots.  This was done in acrylics.
